UNMOVIE (stand_in) is an interactive installation that was designed in occasion of the Critical_Conditions show curated by Timothy Druckrey. 0501 worked with Phillip Pocock and Gregor Stehle to develop a physical instantiation and extension of the existing digital component for this exhibition.

The digital component of UNMOVIE is a online database driven cinema, described by Druckery as " a so-called 'future cinema' without bloated virtualities, fractured notions of narrative, feeble concepts of 'softness' in which random and mostly ephemeral data emerges from incomprehensible, meaningless, or vacuous criteria, a cinema that doesn't replicate special effects to mediate empty realities." [ Critical_Conditions exhibition catalog 2003, p74].

The interactive installation replicated these qualities in physical form and added interactivity through local presence and motion, making use of projected images and light, live video streams, and environmental sensors to temporarily situate the ephemeral in the moment.

The installation was discussed in over 600 emails in a period of 40 days and installed in one week .
